First Biannual Conference
Teacher Education in a Global Context: Challenges and Opportunities
The first international conference of the WFATE was held at the Hilton Chicago on February 12th and 13th in conjunction with the annual meeting of the U.S. ATE. The theme of the conference was Education in a Global Context: Challenges and Opportunities and featured exciting keynote presentations by Dr. Kay Livingston and Dr. William Speer. The conference was organized around the following strands:
- Preservice education
- Continuing professional development
- ICT and teacher education
- Mobility of staff and students
- The role of teacher education in education for all
- Balancing local and global issues: knowledge, curriculum, professional experiences
- Other global issues in teacher education
The conference included a number of panel and poster sessions and more than 25 papers were presented on topics of interest to international teacher educators.
